Crazy cat lady? Pick me! I would have never thought I would be the owner of four cats. Each of them has come to live with me in the most unusual ways. One was found on my Aunt’s roof while another one was found down by the river where I spend time photographing wildlife. The third needed a home and the fourth was dropped off out front of my house in the dead of night. I could never choose one over another, they all have a place in my heart and each of them has a distinct personality. In order to keep these four entertained, I buy numerous types of cat toys.
Cats love the chase. Some nights they just seem to need to get rid of their extra energy. The dangling toys are great. There are some with feathered toys that are hooked to the end of a long stick. My cats love to chase this toy around as I flick the wand for them.
There are others that hook to a board. The ones that are hooked to the board do not require any assistance. The cat just spends time batting around the toy at the end of the spring.
Toy balls are another favorite around here no matter the type but they do like the ones that make noise. Usually, the little balls are brightly colored and some have bells in the center. When the cat bats the ball the bell rings which sends them on the chase around the house. The balls will keep them entertained for a long period of time. There are other balls that have feathered hooked to them which I think reminds them of chasing a bird. Cats just love the chase.
The little fuzzy mice are one the inexpensive toys to purchase and the cats love batting them around. In fact they will throw them up in the air and catch them. The little mice trigger that natural instinct for hunting as they spend hours playing and trying to catch them.
I have never seen this type of toy until recently. I was curious so I purchased the crinkle tunnel. The toy is a tunnel that upon entrance makes a noise. At first, the cats were a little unsure but as time went on they loved the new purchase. The cats will chase each other in and out of the tunnel. The crinkle tunnel is another way to keep them all entertained.
The one main aspect to remember when purchase cat toys for your pets is safety. I always try to make certain that the toys are of high quality. I want my cats to have fun not end up at the vets.
