How many times have you stopped your kids from munching candies and chocolates? How many times have you succeeded? The answers are well-known how much ever strict parent you may try to boast! Caramel in candies and cookies is a favorite of kids’. How about trying a caramel cake at home! Yummy! Children will fall for it. It is deliciously healthy.

Ingredients:
Butter – 100gm
Cream – ½ cup
Brown sugar – 50gm
Bleached flour – 100gm
Baking powder – 1 tablespoon
Golden syrup – 2 tablespoons
Eggs – 2
For caramel topping:
Butter – 40gm
Chopped walnuts – 20gm
Brown sugar – 30gm
Desiccated coconut – 30gm
Milk [to bind] – 1 tablespoon
Method:
Mix together cream, butter, sugar and golden syrup.
Sieve bleached flour and baking powder 3 times.
Add, alternately, sieved flour and eggs.
Line a cake tin with greased paper.
Pour in the cake mixture.
Bake in pre-heated oven at 300-325 degrees Fahrenheit for 60-70 minutes.
Let it cool a bit before turning out of tin.
When cool, cover the cake with topping made by mixing all ingredients and finally binding with milk.
Spread the mix over the cake and put it under a very slow grill until brown. Browning should be slow so that the topping does not scorch.
Culinary advice:
Serve the cake warm and soft. Cut the cake into small pies and store them in refrigerator. Every time you want to serve, heat it in microwave for 1 minute. That makes the cake soft and the caramel melt in a bit to give a yummy flavor.
