First responders and police were dispatched to Grand Slam Storage located at 6420 Grelot Road Sunday morning shortly after midnight to a one-car crash involving six young adults.
According to a nearby restaurant worker, he heard a loud noise and looked around back to see a car that had slammed into the side of the Grand Slam Storage building and then caught on fire after the car had bounced off the wall and settled to the ground.
The restaurant worker quickly grabbed a fire extinguish and extinguished the fire, and then he and another person checked to see if anyone had survived the crash.
Five of the young adults who were injured were taken to a nearby hospital, and one of the young adults was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Monday morning March 3, 2014 all that is left at the scene of the crash at Grand Slam Storage is the impression of where the vehicle slammed into the side of the building and a Nerf football that looks like the type of throw that is thrown during the Mardi Gras parades.
