Camping is a great way to spend quality time with your family. Finding the right campground and campsite can be a little daunting if you have never been to a particular site. Tickfaw State Park is a wonderful little campground that has some wonderful camping sites. Here is an overview and review of Tickfaw State Park.
Tickfaw State Park has 30 improved camping sites that have water and electricity. None of the sites at this campground have sewage hook up. The camp sites are around a paved loop and each site has a good bit of personal area. The trees in the area are mature and provide a good bit of shade during the day.
We camped recently in site 19 and were very pleased with the site. The sites that we would consider our favorite sites based on privacy and views would be sites 17,27, and 29. Site 17 is next to a little nature trail that leads you to a pond you can fish in or take a walk around. There are alligators in the pond, so I would not recommend swimming in the pond!
There are also 20 sites for tent camping that only have water hook up, but this area was closed during our camping trip due to flooding so we were unable to check them out.
The bathroom and laundry facility at the campground was very nice and clean. It looked like it was well kept and maintained.
Tickfaw State Park also offers 14 cabins and a group camp that can be rented on a nightly basis. You can read a review on the cabin area from one of my previous stays here.
While camping at Tickfaw State Park, we were able to visit the splash park, nature trail and nature center. The splash park was really nice and had covered picnic tables so you were able to find some shade. It looked like two of the little water cannons were broken, but they might have fixed them after our visit.
My children loved the nature center. There were animal descriptions and other things to learn about Louisiana. There was also a video that you can watch, but we didn’t take the time to watch it.
The nature trail and boardwalk was well maintained there were plenty of things for you to see along the way. There were also benches and places to rest along the trail.
Tickfaw State Park is a wonderful campground that you are sure to enjoy with your family.
