I was excited when I saw this new fragrance from Burberry. I LOVE Burberry so much that I just had to write love in caps. I think they’ve taken a very chic approach to urban clothing, and I admire them for it. They definitely prove that you can be hip and very well dressed at the same time.
Their fragrances are expensive, but for some reason designer fragrances seem to be worth the money. They last forever and many of them smell super good. So why should I assume that Burberry Body wouldn’t be good? I just knew I would love it. But sadly, I was wrong. I usually fall head over heels for anything Burberry, but Burberry Body stinks! Well, it did at first, and then it just started to smell weird, but not necessarily in a bad way. I’ll explain later.
When you look at the sleek slim bottle, it looks like it’s going to be this fresh musky scent. I assumed that it would be a great fall fragrance. According to the Burberry website, the fragrance has notes of green absinthe, peach, freesia, sandalwood, rose, and amber. The overall scent actually smells unisex to me. I can definitely smell the notes of green absinthe, sandalwood, and rose. It all smelled bad at first, but once it sets for a while, it started to smell muskier. The amber and musk notes slowly started to emerge, and the scent became much more pleasant.
The scent actually reminds me a little of Bottega Veneta. It has that same kind of laid back, nature-like scent. It’s not a scent that I personally go for, but I still recognize that it’s a well done fragrance. I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t slightly disappointed, though. I was expecting that richness that Burberry is known for when it comes to their fragrances. They took a totally different approach with this one, but that doesn’t mean that the scent is bad. I appreciate the fact that it’s different. A lot of fragrances nowadays smell the same. But this one is different. They get kudos for that.
I think all the cool women would like this one, but I’m kind of lame (I’ve been told), so I’ll just stick to mainstream fragrances. Maybe one day I’ll be able to hang with the cool chicks and wear cool fragrances. But as of now, I’ll just sit at the nerd’s table.
