Shall we delve into society’s view or humanity’s understanding as to the true and everlasting relationship that many seek, find and or waste? All relationships have a foundation, a level of trust, and/or a basis of compromise. A relationship can be loosely defined as any situation that brings and/or keeps two or more individuals in contact. The most common relationships include marriages, business ventures, lovers, and most importantly family and friends. To best understand and experience all that a relationship offers, one must know the cardinal rule of one of the above mentioned items.
A foundation is the underlying meaning that parties are aware of, understand and agree to a comparable framework. While it may sound all scientific in nature, most of this level happens without the need to sit down and draw out a map. It’s unanswered wants and needs that form the foundation. The foundation forms when we seek like-minded individuals to socialize with in some form or fashion. The mere mention of like-minded individuals can bring forth several people that may or may not be in your circle or have been in your circle in the past. No one foundation works for everyone. Each person will experience a different foundation based on individual preferences.
Trust is a short word with such an astoundingly powerful reach. Trusting those with whom you chose to have a relationship with is an integral part of each being. Once trust has been formed and broken, one party may feel they are chasing a ghost in high pursuit. Trust in a two way street. It need not be overbearing, nagging or threatening. It is best served when mutually divided without acknowledgement. It is such an easy word that many take it for granted or fail to realize the intricate value. A classic example can be as simple as maintaining two way contact. A simple Hi, hello or what’s up goes a long way in identifying a two way street. No one wants a one sided relationship. Trust is an unwritten code of brothers. Yet, it is often the first cardinal rule that is bent, broken, or destroyed. In most cases it is the end all of established connections.
It is easy to identify and relate to the values of relationships such as family, business ventures and even marriages. The most elusive of relationships are those of lovers and friends. In these relationships one needs to make their wants, needs, desires and intentions known to each other in order to build the foundation that ensures trust and evolves into a complex but manageable compromise. Marriage is not included in the elusive category since one should have already developed that in the lovers and friends period of uncertainty. Compromise may at times be one side, but always comes full circle. As the saying goes, win some, lose some. It should never entail keeping score. It is from the heart and a given asset rather than an expected or demanded request. It’s a basis of knowing that someone will be there when you are in need of a hand, shoulder or ear and sometimes just nothing at all. It can be as simple as a presence.
In conclusion, when thinking of the value of a relationship one shouldn’t merely look at the here and now but really concentrate on the value that the other places in your life. Nor time or distance are of much concern. The amazing value is realized in accountability. Has this person been there when you needed to talk? Have they held “your hand” upon a bad day? Is their advice or opinion been only of importance as to their own gain?
After you have really evaluated the above, you have only one question of yourself. Have you done the same?
**As one rises from the filthy ashes many call life, know that they have grown to be a better person. They have empowered themselves to a level of success within their own right. Such a person they have become that one is no longer put in a position to beg, plead or accept a relationship that appears less than they offer. Time and situations have been choices and therefore offer happiness. As one has risen from the despairs of those ashes they have built an empire all of their own. Financial mishaps or needs are no longer of concern since they alone have built such a fortress that only time now needs spent. Today, they are better than those whose feet they once groveled upon.
