Recently my Father in Law became ill and had to move from his home. He was unable to get his own affairs in order so my husband and son went out to Colorado to wrap a few things up. One thing on the list was cancelling my father in laws cable.
My son tried to go to the address listed but apparently there is no real office there. All that was there was just a parking lot with some of their trucks. So he called the company and was under the impression that it was cancelled.
We got a bill the next month stating it was not cancelled and now past due. Now they will not even talk to us about cancelling the service, on the phone since our name is not on the bill. It is interesting though that they would talk to us to allow us to pay the bill with a credit card. In the scheme of things we are dealing with the Cable TV is at the bottom of the list but we are now paying monthly bills for a service that is not being used and Bresnan Cable has been about as unhelpful as they can be.
I hate it when a company uses privacy laws against the people that the laws are supposed to protect. They will talk to us to get payment, but not to switch the service off. It seems we will need to either get my father in law on the phone which will just confuse him (he has dementia) or send them legal papers proving we have power of attorney. We had no other problems with any of the other utilities we had to deal with on his behalf.
As far as the quality of the service I can not really comment. He did not have any equipment in the house so I will say that $64 seems a bit high for basic cable with no equipment being used. I wanted to write this review for anyone looking for information on this company’s customer service
Update July 9th, 2012
This is still to date not resolved and we have been calling and sending documents etc. They continue to bill us and we have paid for some of it. Finally my husband quit paying and now they are sending past due notices. A few times they have said it was resolved and last week I got another past due notice so I called up and gave them a piece of my mind. The man on the phone promised me a partial refund and to shut off the service. We are supposed to get a check within 30 days so we shall see.
Update August 2012
We did finally get a refund for money that was overpaid. I still think that they owe us more than what they gave us, but since it is now cancelled it is not worth arguing about. I will never do business with them again!
