Best Supporting Actress Nominees at the 2014 Oscars: Who Will Be the Best Dressed?

by yak max

The Best Supporting Actress category for the 2014 Oscars is stocked with talent. Each woman deserves their place on the ballot. Predictions for the Academy Award statuette winner are favoring Lupita Nyong’o for ’12 Years a Slave’ and Jennifer Lawrence for ‘American Hustle.’

Do these two favorites also have the lead for being the best dressed? Here is a look at all the nominees previous red carpet looks this award season:

Sally Hawkins
Sally, nominated for her role in ‘Blue Jasmine’, has had a reserved fashion sense at this year’s award circuits. At the Golden Globes, Hawkins wore a vintage golden Dior dress with a matronly cut. At the BAFTAs, Sally went with a conservative white, tea length Mulberry gown and messy hairstyle. While she has looked great on the red carpet, unless she has a big surprise in store for the Academy Awards, she probably won’t be the best dressed of the Best Supporting Actress nominees.

Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer’s Golden Globe gown was a love it or hate it number. While many fashionistas loved the unique look, others compared it to ‘The Little Mermaid’s’ blanket and rope gown. It was unanimous that Lawrence looked fabulous in her sequined Dior gown at the SAG awards, but the ‘Hunger Games” starlet thought she had “armpit vaginas.” Will her gown be a hit or miss for the Oscars?

Julia Roberts
Julia wore a confusing Dolce & Gabbana dress to the 2014 Golden Globes. While she always looks beautiful, the shirt with a strapless dress over top of it that kind of looked like a tuxedo really aged the 46-year-old. The Valentino gown the ‘August: Osage County’ star wore to the SAG Awards also did not do the talented actress any favors.

June Squibb
The 84-year-old first time Oscar nominee wore a long, red gown to the Golden Globes. It didn’t win her any fashion awards, but she looked lovely. At the SAG awards, the ‘Nebraska’ actress took a bigger risk with a plum Tadashi Soji dress with lots of lace and a lower neckline. It’d be tough to pull off a fashion upset against her fellow Best Supporting Actress candidates, but as the spunky actress declared at the SAG Awards, she’s a “hot-blooded woman.” Maybe she’ll surprise everyone at the Academy Awards with a top-notch gown.

Lupita Nyong’o
Lupita has been a siren on the red carpet and is the best dressed going into the Oscars. At the Golden Globes, the ’12 Years a Slave’ nominee, wore a beautiful, unique Ralph Lauren gown that featured a cape. Donning a green, strapless Dior at the BAFTAs, Nyong’o again claimed a top dressed title. At this rate, she’s practically a shoo-in to be the best dressed nominee of the Best Supporting Actress category.

Which of these nominees do you think will be the best dressed on Hollywood’s biggest night?
