Best Musical Entertainment Is Set to Blow Through the Washington, D.C. Area in 2014

The following guide is only a partial list of some of the best names in music who will play in and around DC in 2014.

Concerts in Large Venues:

Wolf Trap Farm Park Filene Center

Wolf Trap, located next to DC in Vienna, VA, happens to have the best acoustics for an outdoor venue in the Washington, DC area. The venue seats 7,000, pavilion and lawn combined.

Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band – THU 6/12 Time TBA.

Pop, Rock, Beatles. Ringo needs no introduction to the world of music. He brings his own brand of music to the stage for another night of pleasure.

Yo-Yo Ma – SAT 8/2 8:15 PM.

Classical, World, Alternative. Yo-Yo Ma is considered to be one of, if not the best, cellists in the world. His magnificent talent touches the emotions of his audience like no other artist can.

Verizon Center

Located in downtown DC, Verizon Center is the premier indoor arena for attending a concert. This venue seats 21,000 for a concert.

Cher – FRI 4/4 8:00 PM.

Pop, Rock, Lite Rock. Cher brings with her an entire arsenal of mega hits, and she’ll be performing all of them for her fans’ enjoyment.

Miley Cyrus – THU 4/10 7:00 PM.

Pop, Pop Rock, Country, Dance. What can one say about such a dynamic performer as Miley? Get ready for a show that will leave everybody in awe.

Jiffy Lube Live

Jiffy Lube Live (formerly Nissan Pavilion) is another outdoor venue located about 35 miles west of DC in Bristow, VA. It seats 25,000, pavilion and lawn combined.

Journey & Steve Miller – SUN 6/1 6:45 PM

Classic Rock. Journey and Steve Miller have both been rocking the masses for decades, and they’re both still going as strong as ever.

Tickets $57 – $686, on sale now.

Toby Keith – SAT 6/28 Time TBA.

Country. Toby has won numerous awards as one of the best performers in country music. He will be here again to delight all of his loyal fans.

Dave Matthews Band – SAT 7/26 7:00 PM

Progressive Rock, Alternative Rock. Dave and his band have that unmistakable, signature sound which touches the whole spectrum of emotions of everyone in the audience and leaves them wanting more.

Performances in Smaller Venues:

9:30 Club

The 9:30 club has a capacity of 1,200 (mostly standing only), and is located in downtown DC. The venue hosts various lesser known artists, and is a major concert venue for “Indie” (independent label) bands.

The Hold Steady – MON 4/7 7:00 PM

Classic Rock, Narrative, Alternative. NY natives Craig Finn & Co. crank out a classic rock-influenced, theme-based Indie sound where hard core fans can sing, dance, and mosh to their hearts’ delight.

Chvrches – TUE 4/29, WED 4/30 Times TBA.

Alternative, Electronic. Chvrches have developed a sound of their own. The Scottish trio composes songs with a foundation of Pop, and then plays them with layers of a contemporary flair, using sweeping rhythms and metaphoric, mesmerizing lyrics.
