Best Incursion Counter Heroes Against Blasters in Marvel: Avengers Alliance

by yak max

Incursions in the Facebook game Marvel: Avengers Alliance are one of the best ways to test your PVP skills without negatively affecting your rating. Unlike practice matches you can keep restarting incursions to face specific foes or combinations of heroes. Also, since you can choose your heroes after seeing the opposition, incursions are great for testing the efficacy of certain characters against certain enemies. If the actual testing doesn’t interest you, though, and you just want to win incursions easily, the following advice will help you counter each of the blaster characters in Marvel: Avengers Alliance.

Iron Man / Iron Man Mk 42 Armor / Iron Man Mk V Armor / Avengers Iron Man – The biggest danger from every version of Iron Man is his ability to deal increasingly high damage with his Unibeam. The best way to prevent that is to stun him. Any tactician version of Black Widow has a chance to stun him every other turn and can remove his self buffs.

Heroic Age Hawkeye – Hawkeye can be incredibly dangerous because he can potentially attack an infinite number of times in a row if the random number generator is friendly to him. The winded debuff is the best way to prevent that threat. Bring Rescue to the fight and you can put winded on Hawkeye ever turn while still performing other actions.

Phoenix Five Cyclops / Uncanny Cyclops – Rescue is a rather effective counter to Cyclops. She can help allies shake off negative effects he puts on and she can apply off-balance to all enemies after Cyclops uses Evasive Maneuvers. It pretty much neuters his offense.

Dr. Strange / Modern Dr. Strange – Dr. Strange is only really dangerous if he can build up mystic energy. Either the tactician version of Black Widow or Black Panther are great choices to counter strange because they can debuff him every turn while still building up.

Human Torch / Annihilus Human Torch – Human Torch rarely shows up in incursions, but if you do face him, use the tactician version of Ms. Marvel, if you have her. She is incredibly resistant to his attacks, will occasionally heal from them and can act twice a turn due to tactician special ability.

Phoenix / Phoenix Five Phoenix / White Crown Phoenix – If you can, you want to put despair on all enemies while facing Phoenix, but the only hero who can do that is Ares and he is a bruiser. A good backup is Thane because he can apply despair to a single enemy every other round. If you don’t have him, use a hero like Elektra or the scrapper version of Horseman of War, who has attacks with brutal strike, and make sure to always finish off enemies with those attacks.

Storm / Classic Storm – Just about any tactician can overpower storm, unless they rely too heavily on elemental damage. Omega Sentinel is particularly effective because she can apply targeted to all enemies after Storm uses Protective Shroud, and provide healing and effect removal after Storm uses Blizzard or Tornado.

Modern Armor Thor / Avengers Thor – Thor is a pest because he hits like a brick, and unlike the bruiser version of him, Cyclops can’t neutralize the blaster version. Instead use a tactician version of Black Widow and try to stun him. Even if you fail to stun him, you can weaken him, which will help after he strengthens his team.

Iron Patriot – Exhaustion, weakened, and stunned are the three status effects that really stop this hero from ripping through your team. The closest you can get to having all three in one package is either Havok or a tactician version of Black Widow. Pick your favorite and Iron Patriot should be an easy fight.

Scarlet Witch – Scarlet Witch is a headache, but easily countered if you can remove status effects. Rescue is the bane of Scarlet Witch. Her passive can prevent the negative effects of hexed and Status Reset almost entirely negates Probability Field.

Havok – The best way to stop Havok is to hit him with his own medicine. Put exhaustion on him and he can’t devastate your team in a single attack. Havok is, ironically, a good choice for this. Alternately, if you have the scrapper version of Horseman of War, the blind rage debuff works nearly as effectively.

Vision – In the incredibly unlikely chance you run into Vision, do not bring a tactician. You will just get murdered when Vision switches to infiltrator mode. Instead, bring a character with either psychic attacks or ethereal attacks. Magik is an especially good choice because she pretty much prevents Vision from switching to infiltrator mode.

X-Force Archangel – This fight is ridiculously easy. Any tactician that applies debuffs rather than builds up completely destroys Archangel. If you have Emma Frost, use her. Archangel does have any non-attack powers, which makes Psychic Tap brutal against him.

Daimon Hellstrom – Most tacticians will work fine against Daimon, but avoid using either Loki or Dr. Doom, due to their magic attacks. If you have her, the tactician version of Storm is your best choice because she has two catastrophic attacks and she can apply chilled which negates burning.

Nico Minoru – Nico is popular in PvP because she resurrects and becomes more powerful. If can apply despair to her or use a brutal strike attack, you can prevent this. The blaster version of Horseman of Death has both and is your most versatile option for dealing with Nico.

Horseman of Death – This hero will resurrect a limited number of times each battle. You can either negate that with anti-resurrection effects or attack multiple times in a row due to your tactician special ability. The latter is probably your best option. If you have him, use the tactician version of Dr. Strange and save Sorcerer Supreme until this hero is near death. You will be able to potentially attack four times in one round, which will kill Horseman of Death.

Future Foundation Invisible Woman – Defeating Invisible Woman is all about ignoring shields or breaking shields. For a cheap option, use War Machine. For a more expensive option, use the tactician version of Iron Man Mk 42 Armor.

Ms. Marvel / Original Ms. Marvel – Ms. Marvel is a cinch to beat if you own any version of Black Widow. Attack with Flying Kick every turn and you will easily win.

Cable – Cable shows up primarily in incursions in order to buff another character with Temporal Shift. If you can stop temporal shift, you can limit his power pretty well. Any hero that applies exhaustion can basically negate Temporal Shift and the blind rage debuff of Horseman of War also works. Also, somewhat ironically, you might be able to deal enough damage in a single round with Cyclops to defeat Cable before he acts.

Thane – In order to defeat Thane, you need to remove his shield and then clobber him quickly. A tactician version of Black Widow is your best bet for this.

Doctor Voodoo – Doctor Voodoo isn’t really hard to beat as long as you don’t bring a magic user. Any tactician other than Dr. Doom or Loki should defeat him well before he becomes dangerous.

Domino – When facing Domino, your team is going to get debuffed. That is pretty much unavoidable. Rather than worry about removing the debuffs, take advantage of them by bringing Satana to the fight. Alternately, if you have him, use Horseman of Pestilence and put those debuffs back on Domino and her team.

Sunfire – You are pretty much assured that you will never see him in an incursion, but if you do, just bring Human Torch. Sunfire takes reduced damage from fire attacks, but Human Torch takes no damage from fire attacks.
