Welcome to the bread basket of America, where everything is done country, even shopping! In this area of southeast Missouri, people do their shopping at flea markets, where they buy and sell used items from clothes to antiques. If you are in the Doniphan or Poplar Bluff area, here are a few of the flea markets that the locals like to use.
1. Oldies and Goodies- This is in Doniphan and it’s a pretty big flea market for such a little town. It is about the size of a grocery store! As you walk through the different rooms you will see all kinds of things. They have a lot of movies and furniture, kitchenware, electronics, games, clothes, shoes and boot. Some of their private vendors have different antiques such as dishes and candle holders. This is one of the bigger flea markets in the area, and in fact one of the very few in Doniphan, so the locals usually go here when they are looking to buy or sell something. It’s located across the street from the courthouse and their phone number is 573-996- 3532. Ask for John if you’re trying to sell something.
2. B & K Trading Co.- Poplar Bluff residents go to this flea market because it is known to have both new and used items and their prices are good on both. They have a lot of hunting clothes and other hunting items such as gun cases, bow cases, a variety of knives, camouflage backpacks, harnesses and deer stands, tents and antiques. They also have reading books from local vendors. The owners are very helpful and will assist you in finding what you need. It’s located at 902 highway 53 in Poplar Bluff by Ricks 66 gas station. 3. Country Bumpkin’s Flea Market and Antiques- With a wide variety of older stuff you can buy, this flea market has a lot of antique furniture and other antique items. You can buy old signs and juke boxes, home-made candles, parts from old cars, knives, recliners for the elderly, and old kitchenware. This is where the local antique collectors go to buy, sell, and trade antique items. It’s located at 902 highway 53 in Poplar Bluff 573-785-3030.
4. Jordan’s Lake Road Flea Market- Located in Fairdealing between Doniphan and Poplar Bluff, New to You is the place to go for women’s accessories. They have things like purses, dresses, and nail polish. They also carry such things as different antiques, rugs, vacuums and kitchenware. It’s about a 15 minute drive from Poplar Bluff or Doniphan.
