Trout fishing is an exciting activity for me. Do you want to try it in deep waters or a fresh lake? I did it far away from home for the first time in Dubai!
Don’t expect to be a fisherman in the first go! You may hardly catch a fish. Go in a relaxed mood and enjoy your failure!
Wear easy clothes like t-shirt and shorts so that movements are comfortable. Why don’t you try on a white shirt with blue floral prints to get that dashing look of a fishing fan!
Cover yourself with a hat in sun. Your attention and focus can get disturbed if sun’s rays reflect on your eyes.
Go on a morning in the weekend. Take a basket of food, water and juices. First-time fishing takes hours beyond your imagination. You can end up spending more than 4-5 hours with breaks.
Go with a friend or family member. Don’t go alone. You should have handy help if you roll the bait string on your finger or need a sip of orange juice in a break. Carry first-aid kit.
Buy fish food for bait and learn to fix it in bait properly so that the food does not fall off free of bait.
Your hand may pain because of lifting the bait, releasing string, adjusting string to weight of fish on bait and pulling-pushing it often.
Watch for passers-by on the path and kids. Don’t let your string fall on them when you are pulling it out of waters.
Don’t get envious on seeing the fellow fishermen (or fisher-women) catch netfuls!! It takes some time and practice for all.
Celebrate each catch with a smile and a cheer. Weak moments come when the fish fall mid-way.
You have to come to lakes and ponds for fishing at least once a week to become an expert. It takes more than a month to make good catches. Sometimes you get two of them fighting against your food and hanging onto your bait. It’s all luck and skill!!!
