For the first time in my life, due to work and school changes, I am finally able to grow a beard. I had always been curious how my beard would even look, and now I know! It has been two months since I last shaved, and it is such a liberating feeling. I recently read an article titled, “Beard Champion Jack Passion on Growing a Healthy Beard Fast.” I learned some great tips on beard growing, and I’ll go ahead and add some of my own experiences as a first-time beard grower also.
The first thing I would recommend is to be fully devoted to growing a beard. This is because there will be times at the beginning when you just want to rip it off due to itching and discomfort. Next, it is extremely important to wash your beard with shampoo each day. On top of using regular shampoo, you should also be using a skin exfoliant to get rid of any dead skin cells. Having clean skin will help your shorter beard grow faster and healthier. Make sure to be washing your beard at the least, two times a day.
A lotion or moisturizer is also a necessary part of growing a beard. Moisturizing cream with eucalyptus is especially helpful at maintaining healthy skin and also invigorating your beard, helping it grow faster. Ingrown hairs are a common occurrence when starting to grow facial hair. These pesky little hairs can cause a ton of pain, so it is very important to pluck them right away.
Getting a good amount of sleep is extremely important to give your body time to repair itself. Maintaining a healthy diet is also very important. Too much fat can cause your face to be very oily and uncomfortable. Make sure to take a regular multivitamin to help your skin health and also make your beard grow fast.
The most important thing that I took out of my first experience growing a beard is to overcome the temptation to trim and groom your beard. After 6-8 weeks, your beard will be full and can be shaped to your own desires. I personally like the natural full beard look, but depending on your jaw line and body type, you may want to trim after the two month mark. If you experience excessive itching or discomfort like I did, the two best things I found were: 1. Neutrogena T-Gel Shampoo and 2. Hydrocortisone cream. Both of these products almost instantly relieve itching and I noticed that the steroid in hydrocortisone made my beard grow faster.
In all, I have loved growing a beard and also love all of the compliments I get on a day to day basis. Despite the itching at the beginning, I promise that it goes away and will feel so much better. I think a man that can grow a beard, should grow a beard. Hopefully these tips will make the process much easier for a first time beard grower or for anyone who has had discomfort. GROW ON MEN! GROW A BEARD!
