So, the travel agent neglected to mention that you booked your hotel in the rainy season? No wonder the rates were so reasonable. Chin up. It can’t rain the entire time you’re there, can it? Meanwhile, there must be something you can do to save your vacation. Is there any way you can still feel the aura of the beach when the rain keeps you from soaking up the sun?
Visit an indoor water park.
Many beach resorts have them. If not, there’s always the indoor pool. Plus, all the local hot spots are likely beach themed. Just ignore the fact that it’s pouring rain. Get out and enjoy the indoor entertainment of the region.
Have an indoor picnic.
Spread out that red checkered tablecloth right in the middle of the living area. Pack your picnic lunch in that cute little wicker basket. Don’t forget the wine. Some hotels will even pack a picnic for you. Who cares if they think you’re crazy for picnicking in the rain in your room? Did you rent a cottage? That’s even better. They have a beachy feel to them on the inside too.
Bring the beach indoors
There’s nothing like the smell of the beach and the feeling of sand under your feet. So, while you’re having your little picnic, open the windows as much as possible. Maybe that’s just a crack. That’s OK. Let the smells and sounds of the waterfront in. You could even bring in a little sand in a bucket for castle building.
Go to the beach anyway.
So what if it’s raining? You can still make those sandcastles and enjoy those walks on the beach. You’ll just have to bring an umbrella. If it’s not raining too hard or lightning, you may even be able to take a dip. At the very least, you can go wading. Look on the bright side. You won’t have to wear sunscreen.
What if it never, ever stops raining?
Suck it up, buttercup. Life is about making the best of what you’ve been given. Some folks never get a vacation at all. Plus, the beach is still there. You just get to enjoy it in a different way than you expected. Life is an adventure. You never know what new experiences you might have due to the wet weather. Embrace the storm, take lots of pictures and most of all, have fun with it.
