Bad News for Barrett

by yak max

This hasn’t really been the greatest year for the WWE, from the backlash over Batista returning and winning the Royal Rumble to CM Punk walking out, all the way down to Daniel Bryan finally getting his chance at the top only to be stopped short by a neck injury. With all of these things happening it looked as if the summer could get very interesting for WWE, the one upside being that certain workers were finally getting a chance to develop, reaching for the top of the card in the absence of perennial main eventers like Punk and Bryan. One man who had finally been climbing the ladder in WWE was Wade Barrett, the fans were getting behind the man while his mic and ring were have been top notch.

Barrett has long been seen as a man who could be a main eventer, when he first came to the main roster as a part of the initial NXT concept he made waves and gained fans, there was something about this man that just made you feel that you were watching a future champion. When he won the contest and debuted on Raw with all the other contestants from that first season as The Nexus they unleashed hell on the ring and all the people around it unlike anything we had seen on WWE television since the days of the New World Order. Barrett has won multiple Intercontinental Championships in his career, and his latest run with the belt has actually been very solid, making many hope he would finally get his chance at the top with the upcoming Money in the Bank ladder match on Sunday.

While the hopes that Wade could finally get back to the level he had fallen just shy of in his debut run while working against John Cena, there was a bit of reservation as another route could have seen Seth Rollins taking the Money in the Bank case Sunday, leaving Barrett once again holding the bag. The mere fact that Barrett was included was enough to get people interested, but if you were thinking that he would be getting the briefcase and becoming the WWE World Heavyweight Champion down the road, I’m afraid I’ve got some…BAD NEWS. It appears that Barrett is now being ruled out of the matchup due to an injury he suffered at this weeks Smackdown taping.

Wade Barrett is a hell of a competitor, but people have now started to question if he’s a bit snake bit, it seems as if every single chance he gets to ascend to the top of the card he’s stuck by the injury bug. The other interesting part of this situation is that a certain worker may be the man responsible for this injury, a man who’s known for being a bit careless at times, a man who has almost made it a habit of taking people out, that man would be Jack Swagger. Swagger has been involved in multiple injuries of other Superstars with people, myself included, now calling for his release as he’s becoming a danger to his coworkers. While it’s not 100% certain that Barrett is out of the ladder match, it isn’t looking good. As a fan of the man, I’m hoping he’s able to do something, possibly even winning the match, but I’m not getting my hopes up at the moment.
