Now, I know what some people are thinking, falling in love is an indescribable feeling of daydreaming about that significant other all day; a second can’t pass without you imagining their laugh, their smile, or even the way they talk because it’s all just too adorable, so you never question if this person is truly the right one for you. Only people in love know the true meaning of what love is about and everyone else is foolish in not believing that you can finally find your one and only, your partner in crime, your soul mate. For only you can decide if this person is truly the right one for you after-all, right?
I remember when I fell in love when I was 16; it was my friend’s bestfriend, and I had a secret crush on him for a whole year before I started talking to him. At the time, MySpace was the most popular social media site, and we communicated through there sending hundreds of messages that resembled something out of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” He asked me out on the most cliche day of all, Valentine’s Day; my heart had grown wings and flew a million times over the entire globe. I was infatuated with him not only for the way he expressed his feelings to me, but because of the person he was. He was a kind-hearted, patient, family oriented person, we shared in common our love for Asian culture, heritage, and the same music. Being in love brings you feelings of confidence, bliss and joy that no one would understand if you never felt that way before.
When people are in love, they are not crazy, irrational beings that have suddenly lost their minds, they are people who have found inner peace, love, and happiness. I find that the more support you give people with their love instead of breaking it down, make it worth the while to sustain and work hard to keep that type of love. You can find your significant other’s inner self through love, and what better way to do that when you’re in love. Maybe you didn’t find the right one, but the right one found you. You can change yourself through being selfless, caring, and humble. Love is more than finding a person who you can love more than the world itself; love is having the capability to grow, to learn how to be a better person with them, to be the right person for yourself.
