Wine racks serve a specific purpose, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be used for other things. If you don’t use your old wine rack for bottles anymore, consider using it for something else. Or repurpose a cheap wine rack you find at a garage sale to fill an organizational need you have around the house.
The openings on a wine rack work well for holding towels. An old wine rack is a decorate way to display towels in a guest bathroom or keep them handy in any bathroom. Instead of folding your towels, roll them up so they’re about the size of a wine bottle. This makes them fit snugly in the slots on the rack. Place the wine rack towel holder on the counter in the bathroom or on the floor in a dry corner.
Do you crochet or knit? An old wine rack is a great way to keep your yarn organized. Put each skein in a separate spot on the wine rack. You can easily see the colors and types of yarn so you can find just what you need for your next project.
If you have a small tabletop wine rack to repurpose, use it as a desk organizer. Find cups or vases that fit into the slots on the rack. Use them to hold small office items that you need regularly. Designate each cup for a particular type of item. For example, you might have separate cups for pens, pencils, markers and scissors.
Have lots of handbags or scarves? A wine rack could be a storage solution for all of those accessories. Put a hanging wine rack on the wall in your closet for storing accessories. Or put a freestanding wine rack on top of your dresser to keep your accessories close. Roll up scarves or other small accessories to fit into the spots on the wine rack.
Other Bottle Storage
Just because you don’t want to use the rack for wine bottles doesn’t mean you can’t use it for another type of bottle. Place the wine rack on the kitchen counter to store bottles of olive oil, vinegar or other kitchen items you use regularly. Or put it in a storage closet to hold all of your empty reusable water bottles.
