Album Reviews: Magic Forest by Amberian Dawn

by yak max

Amberian Dawn is a melodic symphonic power metal band located in the heart of Finland. As one of the greatest musical acts to come from Europe, I am very excited about their sixth studio album. In fact, recently, I had the chance to listen to Magic Forest, Amberian Dawn’s newest album which comes out June 27th. So, what did I think?

Magic Forest kicks off with Cherish My Memory. If I were to describe this song, I would say it is very Nightwish meets Europe meets After Forever. The instrumental arrangement is very exciting in the beginning of the song. The chorus is very catchy and the phrasing goes perfect with the melody. This is a great song to start the album.

As I continue listening to this album, I am introduced to I’m Still Here. I find myself loving the beginning, as it reminds me of a synth pop 80s redux and then the guitar riffs and drums in the instrumental arrangement prove it’s symphonic metal. Needless to say, this song is exciting.

Warning is the third tune on Magic Forest. I am loving the drums in the beginning of the tune. Like the two previous tunes, this song is an uptempo. This song reminds me of Heart meets Europe meets Nightwish. Crazy good!

The fourth track is Magic Forest, which is also the name of the album. This tune is best described as a melodic symphonic rock tune. Almost possesses a classic rock influence to a certain degree. The beginning is the most exciting intro yet. It’s an uptempo number and reminds me of Roxette meets After Forever.

Dance Of Life is the fifth song on the album. Like all of the previous, this is an uptempo song. The lyrical delivery is excellent in this song. I am really enjoying the diction and how the phrasing goes amazing with the melody in this tune. This is a perfect example of what Amberian Dawn’s music is all about.

As I continue listening to Magic Forest, I am graced with the sixth track, Agonizing Night. This uptempo song is very haunting yet beautiful. When I first heard this song, I was reminded of 80s synth pop and industrial rock with a balance of symphonic fusion.

Son Of Rainbow is the seventh song on the album. What I found extremely exciting about this uptempo is the crazy good guitar riffs in the beginning of the song. I truly believe the vocals bring this tune together.

Memorial is the eighth track to Amberian Dawn’s sixth studio album. This song possesses a melodically beautiful beginning and then comes together when the vocals come in. The tenor solo part is priceless. This tune is nothing like I have heard in a very long time.

Are you ready for the ninth track? As I continue listening to the album, I am introduced to Endless Silence. I would describe this tune as Europe meets Nightwish meets Roxette. It’s very exciting and totally brings me into an early 90s redux.

Well, this is it. The final track on the album is Green-Eyed. This amazing addition to Magic Forest is very haunting. This is the only ballad on the album. I love everything from the vocals to the guitar parts, including the solo in the middle of the song. I could hear this song being played on Maleficent honestly. If I had to choose, this would be my favorite song on the entire album.

Magic Forest by Amberian Dawn is scheduled to be released on Friday, June 27, 2014. Would I purchase this album? Absolutely. Would I recommend this album to a friend? Most definitely. Especially to those that love symphonic metal. For more information, please visit www.amberiandawn.com today.
