There is no shortage of classy hotels in Orange County, CA, where you can get a 5-star room, but they also come with a 5-star price.
I have lived in Orange County almost my entire life, and I have found some really great places to stay that won’t empty your bank account.
Best Western, Huntington Beach
In Huntington Beach, CA, there is a Best Western on Pacific Coast Highway not too far from downtown and the pier. The rooms are really nice and the hotel is situated in such a way that each room has a balcony facing the beach. With nothing to block your view, you can watch absolutely breath-taking sunsets right from your balcony. It has a very romantic feel to it. There is also a jacuzzi on the roof of the hotel which is awesome. The rooms run about $175- $200 per night depending on the time of year. You definitely need to make reservations ahead of time because the rooms fill up fast.
The Holiday Inn Express, Fullerton
In Fullerton, CA, right off of the 57 freeway and Nutwood, there is a Holiday Inn Express. I used to be called The Chase Suites, but changed over ownership a few years ago. This hotel is one of my personal favorites because not only is each room beautiful, but each room is a jacuzzi suite, even the regular rooms. There are room upgrades and special packages that you can add on, such as the romance package which includes champagne, chocolate, and rose petals. But honestly, the regular rooms are so nice that you don’t necessarily need an upgrade. The prices are very reasonable, with the regular rooms going for about $130. You do have to put down a $100 deposit, but if you use cash, you get it right back in the morning as long as you don’t trash your room. They also offer a complimentary breakfast, and there is a fitness room and also an arcade. If you are planning to stay here, I would recommend making reservations ahead of time.
The Brookhurst Plaza Inn, Anaheim
The Brookhurst Plaza Inn is another one of my favorites that is definitely a hidden gem. The particular area where this hotel is located is a little run down compared to other parts of Orange County. It is located on Brookhurst St and Ball Rd, and from the outside it doesn’t look like anything special. The regular rooms are standard, but you can upgrade to a suite, which comes with a large bathtub with jacuzzi jets (1 person), and actually feels like a small apartment. But they do have a honeymoon suite that is absolutely beautiful. It has a large jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room with drapes tied back on the sides and tile steps all around. This room runs a little over $200 per night but it is absolutely worth it. You have to call and ask specifically for reservations for this room. They also have a nice pool and jacuzzi outdoors, and offer a complimentary breakfast in the morning.
