Why would you or anyone want to spend a fortune on a wedding? We know that celebrities do this all the time. They spend millions with all the pomp and circumstance that you would think they are royalty. We all know couples that spend thousands on their wedding.
Many times, the marriage doesn’t last. Three months later, they are getting divorced for one reason or another.
My own wedding was very inexpensive and small. For my husband and I, that’s just the way that we prefer everything to be.
So my wedding was only about $3000.00 total. My dress was on sale on the Blair.com website and it was beautiful .It was a sleeveless off white dress with a sheer white jacket to match. I had white pumps for my shoes. It only cost me about $80.00. My husband paid more for his and my brothers’ suits though. That came in at around $1700.00 including shoes for both of them.
I did want flowers for the tables. My centerpieces were gorgeous and I wanted to give one to my best friend who was my maid of honor. My bouquet for walking down the aisle was also gorgeous. That only totaled about $275.00.
The church was one of the most important things to us. That didn’t cost very much either. There is a beautiful, huge wooden cross in a lot of our pictures. We thought that was important.
The food wasn’t anything fancy. We only invited about 30 people because we wanted to keep things simple and small. We had Subway sandwiches, a huge fruit plate and a huge cheese tray from Sam’s Club. My wedding cake was important to me. I ordered three beautiful round yellow frosting cakes. They were absolutely delicious. We did have white wine for those who liked to drink. We also had Sprite and Pepsi. The whole food and drink total was approximately $375.00.
My whole point in writing this article is to tell you that the most important part of the wedding is the bride and groom. It’s not about getting gifts or having some fancy party, it’s about the two of you starting your life together. It’s about wanting to be married to the person you love forever.
