Cascades Humane Society
One of Jackson’s top-rated dog parks and dog runs is located at the Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Drive. The Jackson Humane Society’s dog playground called Paw Playground, is open daily, and free to the public. Dog owners are able to let their dog run and exercise free within nearly two acres of fenced in property. Paws playground is open daily from dawn to dusk.
Carmen Drive is located approximately two blocks South of Interstate 94 to the right off Elm Avenue and offers plenty of parking at entrance of park. Patrons cannot say enough about the loving care that the Humane Society offers animal boarders and visitors. This new facility is less than 5 years old and is spic and span hygienically clean and secure in a country setting.
Cascades Falls Park
Cascades Falls Park located at 1401 South Brown Street in Jackson is a pet friendly dog park providing owners keep their pets on a leash and under their control. Owners must clean up after their pets, as there are many visitors to this amazing park daily, especially during the warmer months from Memorial Day through Labor Day from dawn to 10 PM,
Cascades Park offers the beautifully color lighted Cascades Falls. Enjoy a children’s playground, Cascades Ice Cream Company, picnic tables, grills, exercise walkways, water fountains, self-propelled boats, and beautiful duck families and babies. The fenced in area of the falls or on the fall steps do not allow dogs. Come and bring a picnic lunch, spread out a blanket with your pet and watch the falls change color to pipe in music.
Research special events scheduled every year such as, the Civil War Enactment and listen to name singers and groups present their music on stage in front of the Cascades Falls. A public restroom is available for visitor and sits at the entrance to the falls.
Ella Sharp Park
Ella Sharp Park has become a favorite park for locals and out of state visitors. This park has a wide venue of activities such as, an 18-hole golf course, amazing flower gardens, and rose gardens where several wedding grace the area each year. Rest on one of the many benches dotting the park. Hiking, and biking trails on paved ways are amazing and heavily used during nice weather.
The park hails a lighted basketball court softball fields where games are in play during the summer and spring months. Enjoy watching soccer games at one of the parks soccer fields or take some golf lessons at the golf-learning center. Enjoy a game of tennis at one of the four tennis courts.
Children’s play grounds; a beautiful mini-golf course, picnic tables, grills, and a restful gazebo are some of the parks amenities. Enjoy a few hours in the beautiful Ella Sharp Public pool where lifeguards attend.
Browse through Ella’s farmhouse as it was over 100 years ago. Sit and enjoy an hour at the planetarium, or walk through the old town set up as it was in Ella’s era. Walk through the Ella Sharp Museum where activities planned throughout the year bring joy to many visitors. Stop and enjoy a cup of coffee and dessert or have lunch or dinner at the Granary Restaurant.
The events that take place at Ella Sharp Park include but are not limited to seasonal festivals, The Annual Rose Festival, and The Hot Air Jubilee.
In the snowy winter months many enjoy cross-country skiing and sledding within the park. Modern restrooms are available in the museum and port a potties dot the park area.
If fishing is in your venue of activities enjoy fishing along the banks of the Grand River running through Ella’s Park. Enjoy a canoe trip down the Grand River at specified areas of canoe launch.
Ella Sharp Park located on Fourth Street in Jackson covers well over 500 acres of park. This is a great location for dogs to run and exercise. Owners must keep dogs leashed and must clean up after the pet. All venues are handicapped accessible. The park opens at dawn and closes at 10 PM, unless otherwise posted due to scheduled events.
