A Guide to Denver’s Best Water Parks

The hot weather is here and the kids are bored. Denver has some great water parks for the entire family to enjoy. This is a guide to Denver’s best water parks.

Water World

Water World is the largest water park in Denver and one of the largest water parks in the country. At Water World you can play, explore, eat and have a party. They have more than 40 attractions such as Pirate’s Plunge, Ragin’ Colorado River, Silly Shores, Funhouse Express Gondola, Caribbean Family Adventure and several wave pools. Each ride has a thrill rating so you can be sure which rides to put the kids on. They offer corporate discounts and you can reserve picnic tables or the pavilion.

Water World will open for the season on May 24th and their hours are from 10am to 6pm. Their prices are as follows:

  • Tots under 40″ tall get in for free
  • Children between 40″ and 47″ tall cost $35.99 for an all-day pass and $22.99 for mid-day hours of 1:45 pm to 6 pm.
  • General admission (48″ and taller) is $40.99 for an all-day pass and $25.99 for mid-day.
  • Senior (60 and older) cost $9.99 for admission.
  • You can also save buying tickets online.

Elitch Gardens

Elitch Gardens is one of Denver’s oldest amusement parks with rides, concerts, food, shows, events and a water park. They have water park rides for all ages from the Commotion Ocean to the Splashdown, which is a 75 foot long twisting and turning raft ride. Other water park rides include the Sun Plunge, RipQurl, Gangplanks, Castaway Creek and Cannonball Falls.

Elitch Gardens opens for the summer on May 24th through Labor Day, 10 am to 6 pm. The water park is free with the admission price to Elitch Gardens. You can buy tickets online at their website or buy a season pass for $69.99, which also includes free parking. To get to Elitch Gardens, you take Speer Blvd. to Elitch Circle and turn south on Elitch Circle.

Pirates Cove

Located in Englewood, Pirates Cove is a smaller water park that doesn’t cost quite as much as the larger water parks. They have a leisure pool with a giant play structure, a 25 meter, six-lane pool, a lazy river and a 35 foot slide tower with three slides. You can buy food and concessions at the Barnacle Café.

Pirates Cove will open on May 24th through Labor Day and their hours are from 10 am to 6 pm. They have several different levels of admission and you can buy tickets and passes online or at the Englewood Recreation Center which is located at 1155 W. Oxford Ave. Pirates Cove will close on days when the temperature is not above 65 degrees.
