This is a guide to antique shops in Taylorsville, North Carolina, located in Alexander County. There are four antique shops in town and you can easily spend a day shopping for Southern vintage items.
Many of the items that these antique shops in Taylorsville sell are from locals in the area. This gives shoppers a unique opportunity to select some very fine collectable Southern antiques that have not been picked through and quite a few of them are priced below market value. So let’s take a road trip down NC Highway 90.
The Patriot House
We make our first stop at The Patriot House. Going west into Taylorsville on Hwy 90 we find a house on the right that has been converted into treasure rooms of antiques. Even the front yard and car port are used to display these items. This shop is very well kept and organized and is a pleasure to browse all the wonderful antiques that Tina, the owner, has for sale.
Tina says that she is closed during the months of January and February. This is when she goes to Florida to do antique winter shows. The rest of the year she is open Wednesday through Friday 10am to 5pm. Saturday hours are 10am to 2pm. Tina does appointments on the other days.
Kalin’s Treasures
We get back on the road and continue our trip going west. In a few moments we see Kalin’s Treasures on the left. There we find two very friendly southern ladies named Karen and Linda. They took their names and combined them to name their shop that contains many nice antiques. The shop has jewelry, glassware, china, dolls, and lots of odds and ends.
Kalin’s Treasures is open 10am to 4pm on Wednesdays, from 10am to 6pm on Thursday and Friday. Saturdays you will find them there from 8am to 3pm. They tell me that on nice summer days they stay open until dark. If it is raining. or during bad weather, you may find them closed.
West Main Antiques
It is time to move on and continue west into downtown Taylorsville, NC. As we pass the main center of town we look to the right and see a sign that shows there are antiques nearby. Looking further off to the right there is a long building that contains two large antique consignment shops.
We go into West Main Antiques and find a huge selection of antiques that the many vendors have collected and displayed. Looking at everything could take awhile. Patty, the owner is happy to help you find what you are looking for. Her shop is open 10am to 5pm every day except Wednesday and Sunday.
Treasure Cove Antique Mall
Last, but not least, you will find that the Treasure Cove Antique Mall definitely lives up to it’s name. Owners Darrell and Pam will welcome you to this enormous selection of fine antiques and collectables. You will find lots of old unusual items, coins, comics, books and the list is endless.
I talked to Darrell for a long time and found he knows his business. He seems glad to answer questions you may have concerning antiques and is a pleasure to talk to. They are open 10am to 5pm Everyday except Sundays.
Conclusion
If you are into collecting or buying Southern antiques, a trip to Taylorsville, NC. should be on your list. Southern hospitality is alive and well here, there are many places to eat, get a cup of coffee, and breath in the fresh air coming down out of the mountains.
