As summer approaches, the thoughts of soon-to-be brides turn to the elements that will help make their dream wedding come true. The fashion industry has been busy churning out ideas that will make 2014 wedding trends a summer splash. Three of these trends stand out for me, and if I were going to take one more trip down the aisle, and especially if I planned on doing it this summer, I’d use every one of these tips in my wedding.
The Joys of Pink
Oh my goodness. It’s like they’re in my head. All my inner circle will tell you that right now pink is my reigning favorite color. All of my phone and device cases are pink, my glasses are pink, and even my wardrobe is pink heavy. In an interview with event designer Tara Guerard, The Huffington Post reports that three shades of pink — nudes, blushes, and peaches — will dominate the wedding halls this summer. Ms. Guerard especially emphasizes, “… not Pepto-Bismol pink!” though. From your bridesmaid dresses to the flowers to the décor, even just a faint touch to your wedding dress, think pink and own it for your wedding.
A Return to Formality
In a revisit to the elegance and romance of days gone by, there’s a definite return to formality in this summer’s weddings. We’re talking crystal and china, waiters with white gloves, and live big bands. Don’t skimp in this area if you want to be in style. The biggest move that you can make to declare that your special day is definitely different from any other special day is to mark the occasion with formality. Make it a day to remember. Capturing the formality of your wedding day with these extra touches in photos will be something that you can look back on with joy for years to come and share with your children and your children’s children.
Invitations with Flair
This one caught me totally off guard and is truly a unique idea that I’ve never seen before. Handwritten and freehand illustrated wedding invitations a little smaller than the standard 5×7 size are a must have. This is an area in which you can definitely make your wedding day a unique expression of you and your future husband. Find a talented artist and allow him to create an image that reflects some special aspect of you and your fiance’s relationship — how you met, your favorite joined interests, your wedding theme. Let your imagination be your guide.
Well, there you have it. These are only three of the wedding trends for summer 2014. If you use just these three alone I promise that your wedding day will be the envy of all of your friends.
