For women who live to 50 and beyond, menopause is a perfectly natural part of life and there is no need to be stressed over this. However, some changes do occur which understandably cause a lot of stress and discomfort for women, including hot flashes, night sweats, disturbed sleep, mood swings, problems at home, children growing up and moving out, and even husbands/partners retire or could possibly have health issues of their own. As you can see, there are many reasons why women need assistance during this often stressful time in their lives (transitional years known as menopause and peri-menopause).
These tips will help you in dealing with your menopause and will allow you to live a much healthier and better life.
- Women are often taking care of others before themselves, so you should make time for yourself as often as you can. Try to set aside at least one or two hour a day for relaxing and catch up on some pleasurable past-times or socialize with friends.
- Doing the housework can also be very tiring, you should ask your partner for help around the house as this will allow you to relax more and it will help limit the stress.
- Meditation helps significantly in dealing with stress! Even 10-15 minutes per day can make you feel like all your worries have disappeared.
- In my opinion, exercising is another form of meditation. You should set aside at least an hour or 2 in a day to exercise and keep your body and your heart in good shape.
- Eat a well-constructed, nutritious diet. This may be surprising to many, but our diet plays a huge role in our day-to-day lives and can affect everything from how we feel to how we look. You should eat a diet that is rich in protein, has moderate carbs and minimum fat.
- It is important to continuously learn new skills and improve our knowledge. With the widespread use of the internet, this is now incredibly easy and you should be learning new things all the time!
- Consider getting professional help from a therapist or from a medical expert who specializes in menopause issues. This will help greatly and you might discover some other issues in your life that you had not previously known about; knowing about an issues is half-way to overcoming it!
- Finally, you might want to consider hormone replacement therapy. This does not suit everyone, but can work wonders for those who it does suit.
