With the advent of the smartphone, cooking and baking has never been easier. Now, there are tons of apps that will give you recipes and kitchen tools, and help you make delicious food. The best part is that all of them are free!
Food Network In the Kitchen
The In the Kitchen App lets you browse recipes by your favorite Food Network chefs, like Alton Brown, Guy Fieri and Rachael Ray. The recipes include a cooking level, so beginning chefs can stay away from complicated recipes, and advanced ones can look for a challenge. At the time of this writing, there was even a special category for Easter recipes. There is also a function that allows you to use multiple cooking timers at once, rather than the IPhone’s one timer.

How to Cook Everything For IPhone
The app comes from the New York Times columnist Mark Bittman’s cookbook, and features over 2000 recipes. One of the best features is the Quick Dinners button, which is perfect for browsing while at the grocery store to pick that night’s quick meal. For real kitchen beginners, there is a Kitchen Basics including articles such as “Broiling Basics” and “Filling Tortillas” to help you out.

Party Cupcake Recipes 1000+
Unlike many of the other recipe apps featured here, Party Cupcake Recipes 1000+ only does one thing, but it does it well. All the recipes are well presented and include pictures of these yummy treats. The makers also add new recipes every two weeks, so if you somehow manage to bake them all, there are more on the way.

Kitchen Dial
If your phone doesn’t already have a simple unit converter, this is a great one to download for cooking and baking. It’s simple to use, you just rotate the two dials until you reach the measurements you want and input the amount.

All Bread Recipes
Much like Party Cupcake Recipes 1000+, All Bread Recipes fits into a very specific need. There are Doughnuts, Fruit Bread, Corn Bread and others. Although the recipes are all good and plentiful, the app lacks a search function for easier browsing.
