After watching the news today, a story about a young six-year-old boy came on. After being born with a genetic condition, Antrho-Gyposis (Stuck-joints), causing brutal abnormalities to his legs and feet, he was unable to walk for the first six years of his life. However, after several surgeries and physical therapy, Hadi Alkhadra is now able to walk on his own with the support of leg braces. Having a genetic condition affecting the legs myself, I gained hope through this story.
This little boy has taught me to have hope. Instead of giving up, he saw something he wanted and made it possible. As I mentioned earlier, I also have a genetic condition, which may cause me to lose the ability to walk. However, after watching this story, I realize that instead of worrying about it, I need to have a little faith and hope.
2. Never Give Up
His entire life up until this point was spent non-ambulatory. Nobody knew if the treatment would definitely work for him, but he persevered through all the surgeries and all the therapy, which paid off. Instead of giving up, he saw something he wanted, and worked really hard to accomplish his goal.
3. Anything Is Possible
Just seeing this story on the news shows me that anything is possible. After 6 years of not being able to walk, here he is, walking. His story has inspired me to not give up on myself and keep believing that anything is possible, if you have enough determination.
4. Stay Positive
According to CBS news, Dr. Rinsky, the surgeon who helped in this case says that it’s his positive attitude that makes the difference. I have always believed in having a positive attitude, and I try to remain positive, but some days are harder than others. This news story reminded me that keeping an upward outlook can be the best thing, or I am more likely to face defeat.
5. Miracles Can Happen
I believe this to be a miracle. When he was born, his feet were upside down, and nobody had tried to help this young child out in the place he was born. After meeting the right people, people who helped this little boy, he is finally able to walk after so long. Imagine if he had never met the surgeon, then what would have happened. Nobody knows, but a good chain of events took place and a young child’s life has been changed because of it.
