Star of BET’s “Being Mary Jane” actress Gabrielle Union, commented in the December 2013 Essence cover story that “[she’s] focusing on motherhood and nesting, and by nesting I still mean traveling the world.” And Union added that she wants “to nest like Beyoncé and Jay.”
The inseparable husband and wife team cannot be compared equally to Union and newly engaged fiancé NBA Miami Heat’s Dwayne Wade.
And here are the five biggest reasons why:
Beyoncé and significant other Jay Z have been married for five years. In addition, he is a fellow top headlining entertainer who shares and supports his wife’s passion for making music. So the “Holy Grail” rapper also understands the grueling hours of rehearsals and the time commitment away from home touring demands.
This lovingly devoted pair has collaborated on numerous chart-topping songs, such as the newly released brow-raising single “Drunk in Love” they’ve been performing for audiences off the self-titled visual album “Beyoncé.”

Secondly, Bey and Jay are both prominent A-list celebs independent of each other with business deals in various areas, including signature fashion lines and fragrances, among other ventures.
Thirdly, the power couple became first-time parents with the birth of daughter Blue Ivy in 2012. Baller Wade has custody of his two kids, in addition to a third child reportedly conceived with a woman other than Union when the two were on the outs.
The fourth reason is the once private Beyoncé and Jay Z aka Mr. & Mrs. Carter are not known for being a highly visible power duo, having wed in a small scale ceremony without public acknowledgement. The Carter’s courtship, engagement and eventual marriage began as an incredibly low-key relationship via phone. The bride-to-be even foregoed the entire pending marriage announcement and traditional engagement ring route.
Comparatively, they’re not the focus of media attention as a result of negative personal trespasses that prompted public scrutiny as are Wade and Union. Rather, they are revered as the First Couple of music as well as a hot twosome on and off the stage.

Finally, in order for Union to meet her desire to “nest like Beyoncé and Jay,” means she would have to go back in time and start with a clean slate; in other words erase the past. The doting parents seem to have established a loving family, rising musical careers and lucrative business empires – together!
It’ll take Union and Wade a lot of effort and an enormous amount of catching-up to be able to simulate these superstar spouses.
