4 Great Places to Eat in Grand Prairie, Texas

by yak max

Whether you are just visiting Grand Prairie, new to the area, or a long-time resident looking for somewhere new to eat, there are several great places to eat in Grand Prairie, Texas. This is an overview of a few of my favorites:

The Jade Dragon is located at 1700 W. Polo Rd. This is a family run business with a quiet, friendly atmosphere. The restaurant is always clean and the food is always fresh. It is not unusual to see the children working on their homework while helping mom and dad wait tables and answer the phone. I like the Kung Pao Chicken and Kung Pao Triple Delight. The wait staff has extensive knowledge of the menu items and is happy to answer questions or make suggestions. I appreciate the fact that they always let me know if there are peanuts in items my children requests, in case they are allergic, or if a dish is very spicy. This establishment offers quality food in a professional and timely manner, at a great price.

Beto’s Mexican Restaurant is located at 2530 W. Interstate 20 and is another family run business. One thing I have noticed about this restaurant is that when everyone else started raising prices and decreasing portions due to the bad economy, Beto’s continued to offer the same amount of quality food at the same great prices. My favorite menu item is the grilled chicken fajita chimichanga with queso. They also make their own salsa with fresh ingredients that is, in my opinion, the best salsa in the area; and they offer guacamole made fresh at your table. In addition to the convenient location, there is always plenty of seating available and full bar service.

Mixed Up Burgers is located at 3116 Great Southwest Parkway, at the Grand Prairie Municipal Airport. The unique thing about these burgers is that you choose ingredients to be mixed in with your burger before it is cooked. Items include onions, bell peppers, jalapeños, cheese, etc. Since the burgers are made to order, they are always hot, fresh, and delicious. They offer a variety of other menu items such as salads, wings and a giant chili cheese dog called the Home Wrecker. The dining area is a clean, modern, open area with large windows facing the runway where your family can enjoy watching air planes take off. This location has a fun, friendly atmosphere and a monthly calendar at each table showcasing the events and specials for the month.

Jimmy’s Big Burgers is located at 902 W. Pioneer Pkwy Suite 110. Jimmy’s is relatively new to Grand Prairie but has quickly obtained a great word-of-mouth reputation. All of the burgers are ½ pound. (Except the double, being a whole pound of meat, and the vegetable cheeseburger with no meat) Jimmy’s offers a variety of other menu items including chicken sandwiches, subs, salads, appetizers, deserts, and Kid’s Baskets.
