Southern California is not known for its rain. However, on occasion, we will receive a good dose of precipitation. Sometimes, it will rain for several days without stopping. During these times, I get to pull out my rain gear. I love rain boots, patterned umbrellas and water-resistant jackets. Rainy days don’t mean you have to wear drab fashions. In fact, here are four cute outfits for rainy days.
Black With a Pop of Color
A black ensemble looks sleek. However, adding a bright pop of color makes your outfit anything but boring. In addition, when black becomes wet, it is less noticeable. Start out with thick black leggings, a long sleeved shirt and a basic black rain jacket like this DKNY hooded jacket. Then, add a pop of color. One of the easiest ways to do this is with colorful rain boots. I like these classic knee high rain boots from Target. They come in a variety of colors like purple, deep blue and red. You can match your rain boots to your umbrella for a bright rainy day outfit. For even more color, try wearing a short, circle skirt in a vibrant shade, over your leggings.
Navy and Polka Dots
Navy and white has a crisp look. Start with some dark skinny jeans or jeggings and pair it with a white long sleeved shirt. Tuck your pants into these adorable Chooka polka dot rain boots and don’t forget your navy and white polka-dotted umbrella. Finally, add a rain jacket in dark grey, navy or raspberry to finish the look.
Orange Skimmers and Olive Coat
Rain boots are great! However, if you won’t be puddle jumping, you might consider some water resistant flats. The Chooka Women’s Nobotana Zig Flat in orange has a treaded, rubber sole and neoprene lining to keep your feet dry. Pair the shoes with some skinny cargo pants, a black, loose-fitting blouse and an olive water resistant jacket. I like this anorak-style hooded jacket from Athleta. This look is best for those days when it drizzling, not pouring.
Chambray with Red
The chambray style appears to be here to stay. For rainy days, try a easy fitting chambray dress, such as this one from Sessun. Add a black or red rain jacket, tights, and, a basic black umbrella. Of course, don’t forget the red rain boots.
Try one of these cute rainy day outfits and, soon enough, you’ll be singing in the rain!
