You may know about our sun, in fact you may know that it heats up our planet however do you the fundamentals? Not many people know how our sun or how any star was formed, also not many know how it will cease to exist. In this article i will give you some interesting details about stars, hopefully you will not be disappointed.
- Formation – You could say stars are the very life essence of the Universe, without them no organism on our planet would exist. Stars start out as practically nothing, just thick clouds of gas. Gravity then comes in and plays a major part in the formation of stars. Gravity then pulls the thick clouds of gas together and that sparks something. Matter starts to fall into the clouds of gas, over the course of millions of years. After that period of time is done, the thick clouds of gas are now dubbed a protostar.
- Sustenance – After the long and gruesome period of formation, the star is now prepared to sustain it’s life for billions of years. This is quite an amazing feat, simply because stars are just big balls of gases. Stars have an extreme lifespan through nuclear fusion, the equivalent of humans needing nourishment.
- Death – Sadly even stars can perish, even though their lifespan is a huge multiple of ours. When stars die it is not as quick as a human’s, not even close. Stars can take millions of years just to reach it’s final stages of life, however when it does be prepared. Stars can cause a variety of events when they die e.g. when a supermassive star dies that can cause a black hole. Another event that can occur is a huge explosion that can devastate nearby solar systems! The most seemingly peaceful death is the formation of a pulsar star, to put an image in your head these stars spin 30 times within one second and emit deadly rays that can strip away our planet’s atmosphere leading to our demise. Finally the last death is actually peaceful, a white dwarf. This star forms when a star that doesn’t have alot of mass dies.
As you can see stars play a major part in our universe. However they can also cause the destruction of our universe. What do you think about stars now that you have a bit of insight on them?
