The time is here…it’s finally summer. After a particular frigid winter, followed by a slow spring, it’s finally time to suit up and laze around in the heat. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been salivating over several gorgeous swimsuit styles for months. What I particularly notice this season is a larger variety of styles to choose from. I’ve bought several of the swimsuit trends listed below.
A Bosom Covered in Fringe
One trend I instantly fell in love with is the fringe bikini. You might have noticed it in your local Forever 21. The look is a bandeau bikini with fringe started toward the armpits and delicately flows longer to the heart area, then shortens back up to the other armpit. The bikini will usually have a removable strap going around the neck. This style is good for making a person appear more busty. Slender, petite women can rock this trend. Average or curvy ladies might want to approach with caution, as the fringe might add a little “too much bang” in that area.
Like a One-Piece..with a Twist
If I had to choose the most universally flattering swimwear style, my pick would undoubtedly be the one-piece. Any body type looks great in it. This classic style can be as sexy or modest as you want. A new, fresh twist seen in a lot of stores in 2014 is the cut-out, asymmetrical one-piece. I’ve seen several variations to this. Sometimes it’s strapless with a cut-out at one hip. My favorite style ties around the neck and has two cut-outs at both hips, leaving a narrow piece of the stomach covered. It is backless. It looks fantastic, and covers the stomach if that’s your trouble area. Honestly, as faux pas as this sounds, I got my favorite cut-out one piece at my local Walmart! It’s tie-dyed with crochet accents. These sexy one-pieces can all be found on Google Shop.
Exclusive Trends in 2014
This year I’ve seen other trends that have been quite rare in the past few years. Two examples are the high-waist bikini set, and the “scrunch” bikini bottom. I positively adore the high-waist bikini. It’s so feminine and slightly vintage, a throwback to our 1950s classy sisters. The bikini bottom features a high waist, often with ruffle details or sailor-inspired buttons. It has a slightly cheeky fit, and is great for pear shaped ladies or those desiring the appearance of a voluptuous bottom. It also is great for camouflaging a muffin-top. Usually the matching bikini top will be a ruffled triangle bikini, or my personal favorite, an under-wire bikini with thick straps tying around the neck. Modcloth is a great online store featuring lots of vintage, high-waist swimwear. These suits can be pricey, but it’s worth it. Another universally flattering bikini bottom is the “scrunch” style. In the past, I’ve seen this style sometimes in lingerie. The back bunches in the center, resulting as a scrunch. It really makes the butt look perky and round. A great alternative for those who don’t feel comfortable in just a string bikini. I’ve seen scrunch styles on Amazon Clothes.
So many lovely styles, so many months to flaunt them. All the trends above are sure to turn heads. Macys and Nordstrom have most, if not all, of these styles. 2014 is the year of the hottest swimwear!
