Colorful, Bright, and Stylish
According to Elle.com., there are 25 colorful and sleek swimsuits that are on the list of must-have bathing suits. The colors range from a ’60s floral print bikini to a sleek 70s bikini one would imagine Marilyn Monroe wearing to a colorful one piece for those who feel they don’t have the body for a bikini like me. While they didn’t have a traditional two-piece, a longer top with a bikini style bottom, there are a few that caught my eye.
The Rash Guards are something I haven’t seen before. They are a long sleeve top with a bikini bottom. This a bit different for a two-piece like a mentioned above. While it would fit into that category, they seem to be the latest rage for swimsuits for 2014 according to Glamor.com.
A Full-on Wetsuit
I had never thought of a wetsuit for being a swimsuit, but in this case, Glamour says they are another trend for 2014. This particular trend is a two-piece long sleeved top with a jockey style bottom. This suit would work for anyone’s body style.
Retro Is Back Again
Even after 2013 went back in time with prints from the 60s and 70s as I mentioned in the beginning of this article, there are also the one piece suits we have seen in the 50s. Some designers have combined the two to create an authentic style for anyone with any type of body.
That, however, still hasn’t stopped designers from going a bit further with making swimsuits in any style that doesn’t take us back decades. There are still the sexy bikinis (think Victoria Secret) and fun prints with fringe.
Where to buy without breaking the bank?
Personally, I can’t see spending hundreds of dollars on a bathing suit no matter who designed it.
Moderately priced swimsuits can be found at Target, Kohls, Penny’s, and Sears. Lower end priced bathing suits, guess where? Walmart, General Dollar, and similar stores. Not everyone can afford even the moderately priced suits. Higher end swimsuits, try Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Soma, Land’s End, and Nordstrom.
But don’t let any of this detract you from suiting up for a swim this year. Get out and enjoy the water in a trend you can make your own.
