One of the great things about the sport of triathlon is that it has traditionally been, and to some extent still is, a sport whose stars are still accessible to the fans. Fans of professional triathletes can not only meet those they look up to, but can even race alongside them.
Try to play basketball with your favorite NBA player. It’s not going to happen.
However, even triathlon fans don’t always have the opportunity to race against or chat one-on-one with their favorite triathletes. Thankfully, social media has made it possible to interact with them even from a distance. And what’s great is that by following some of these triathletes, you can get a small glimpse of what it’s like being a professional triathlete. Do you have what it takes to be a pro?

Andy Potts, United States, is most well-known for his swimming prowess but is always ready to compete in any triathlon race.
You can’t leave out New Zealand and who better than two-time Olympic medalist Bevan Docherty.
Leanda Cave is a British triathlete who was the first woman ever to accomplish the “Double,” winning the Ironman Triathlon and Ironman 70.3 World Championships in the same year.
@Caroline_Xena Caroline Steffen races both the ITU World Championships and the Ironman World Championships and has placed in the top spots in both.
Trevor and Heather Wurtele from Canada both race triathlon and have a fun Twitter feed to follow.
