You, the home owner has to protect your home and keep criminals from breaking in late at night. You also need to protect your lawn ornaments or outdoor hanging baskets from late night thieves.
It is actually very cost effective to invest a few hundred dollars in a few cameras that can connect to a monitor and a DVD recorder.
I bought my first, inexpensive 3 camera, black and white surveillance system for under $250.00 and at the time used a common VHS recorder attached to it. After a quick setup of the cameras, positioned at windows and pointed outside the house, I was ready to protect myself from strangers who might not want to steel my car’s hub caps or steel valuable plants on the porch, after first reading the warning signs on the front door and porch window. Further observation by the potential thief of the camera behind the window glass would hopefully deter acting on impulse.
There are several models to choose from these days. I imagine there are remote digital cameras that can record what goes on outside the house using your desktop computer. I believe you can find out more at Geeks.com or Amazon for a list of a variety of digital cameras of several types and styles.
We all need to get real. The world is a safer place when we have eyes-on 24/7 at home, so when that moment strikes, we’ll have the evidence to prosecute. One example is that I was reviewing my 8 hour VHS type recording of the night before and at around 3:00 AM I saw a man come up to the porch and started knocking on our front door. He stood there a good 10 minutes. It was when he finally looked into the window and saw the camera looking straight at him that he walked back off the porch and went on his way.
The reason I purchased our security camera system was because people were steeling the hub caps on our car and not long before that our car stereo, right out of the dashboard. This made me angry. So that’s what motivated me to get a surveillance system and I think that by doing so I was able to prevent future theft on our property and maybe even a home invasion.
I’m writing about this because it is a very serious issue. We, as home owners, with safety in mind, must have some peace of mind. After watching several videos on YouTube.com just about videos from people who had camera eyes looking out at night, put their videos of strangers wondering up on their lawns and steeling their Christmas ornaments and other lawn decorations. Without some form of visual proof these common thefts that take place all over our country, would go unrecorded and undocumented. So it seems logical that we should try some type of home surveillance system.
You will notice when driving around the city that there are more cameras in front of businesses and major intersections. The age of the digital camera is here and it’s time to upgrade our home security systems for peace of mind and to tell the potential criminal to think twice before breaking in this house. Got ya!
