Ellen DeGeneres interviewed WWE Superstar Darren Young who was recently injured at a live event in Texas over the weekend while wrestling WWE Superstar Fandango. He apparently twisted or broke his ankle while performing in the ring, but noted on his Twitter account that he is fine.
Seven months ago on ABC’s hit talk show ‘Ellen,’ which airs weekly, Young sat down with DeGeneres shortly after breaking the news that he was indeed gay and has had a boyfriend for over two years.
He spoke about how hard it was to come out of the closet, but how happy he was now that he did, and that he wants to be a role model to all and make sure everyone understands how important it is to be happy and be yourself.
His appearance on the show was not only well received by his coworkers, his fans, and the live audience; it was also well received by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) as he is now nominated for Outstanding Talk Show Episode at this years GLAADS Media Awards.
The 25th GLAAD Media Awards will be held in New York City at The Waldorf Astoria on May 03, 2014 at 5:30 pm/e time, for more information please click here.
I would like to personally congratulates Darren Young to have the courage to be the first openly gay wrestler.
