Daniel Cooney Fine Art first opened its doors in 2003 in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn . After a move to Chelsea in 2004, the gallery has made a name amongst the plethora of galleries in NYC. One of the great things about Daniel Cooney Fine Art is that they conduct online fine art auctions on iGavelAuctions.com three times a year, including an Emerging Artist Auction.
The upcoming exhibition will feature the works of Jen P. Harris entitled “American Kiss.” Harris was a recent participant in the online auction and will display “large-scale oil paintings and smaller ink and ink wash works on paper.” Harris obtained her BFA from Yale and MFA from Queens College .
I contacted the gallery and Daniel Cooney was so kind as to send me the press release for the event and answer a few questions. Daniel explained that he met Harris “through the Emerging Artists Auction’s that I hold online at iGavelAuctions.com.” Since then, he arranged a studio visit and has followed her work. Although the gallery doesn’t usually show paintings, he thought that “summer is a season to experiment and her work is so beautiful and thoughtful.” Agreed! This exhibit will definitely spice up the gallery and provide a different look to the audience, to “surprise them with refreshing and new work of the highest quality.”
The works of Jen P. Harris, “American Kiss,” will be on display at Daniel Cooney Fine Art from June 9 – 30, 2011.
