Okay, this is important. If you haven’t spent time on your grammar lately, you may want a little help! Grammar is more than simply spelling a word correctly. Do you know how to punctuate correctly? Do you have run-on sentences?
If you need a little bit of help, you are not alone. I don’t know one person that has not needed help or used an online tool for grammar. Yes, even freelance writers who have been in the field a long time may still make use of a grammar checker from time to time.
You can do a search on Google for free online grammar checkers and you will get results. However, I would like to recommend a few for you that I have used myself.
Grammarly – This is a great grammar checker. Not only will Grammarly check your work for grammar issues, but it will also run a plagiarism check. You do NOT want be found guilty of plagiarism. More on this in the next chapter.
WhiteSmoke – This software is amazing! I purchased it a few years ago, and I can tell you it was worth every penny. However, you can watch for specials as WhiteSmoke commonly offers discounted rates. I could go on and on about WhiteSmoke, but I will just let you research it on your own so I don’t sound like a raving lunatic.
I recommend that you always type your work in a word processing program. If you have Microsoft Office, great. If not, you don’t have to spend money to get it. Open Office works just a as well and is free!
Don’t forget to use a thesaurus and synonym checker. These two tools could potentially make your writing stand out from the crowd!
