All throughout Proverbs and other books in the Word, God speaks of wisdom as being a woman, or of women as being wise. Although God is referred to as a “He,” God is a spirit, neither male nor female, but having the qualities of each in their purest fullness. While historically men are seen as strong, as leaders, as providers, as hunters, using their physical attributes and their minds to define themselves, historically women have been seen as sensitive, as nurturers, as caregivers, lead my their spirit and their heart. Perhaps this can tell us that wisdom comes from thinking of others and using our more tender qualities. Not that we are to be ruled by our emotions. The Word warns of the heart being deceitfully wicked and asks who can understand it (Jeremiah 17:9, Matthew 15:19). But when our sights are set on God, from whom ultimate truth and wisdom originates, then our hearts can be right, and therefore, we are better equipped to make wiser decisions. When our hearts and emotions are used, we can better see situations and decisions and consider all the angles and possibilities, rather than just one or two outcomes.
Women are perceptive. They scrutinize, analyze. The choices made are based on knowledge as well as circumstance. When each component is carefully thought out & considered, wiser decisions are more likely to be made, as opposed to coming at a decision from just one thought or perspective. It is known that the majority of men give themselves one or two options before acting or making a decision, whereas women ruminate over choices, thinking carefully and taking their time. Yes it is true that in some cases it is better to just act quickly, but often it is better to think long and hard about things and to take time, not acting hastily.
The Word says that both a good woman, and wisdom, are far more precious than jewels and should be desired (Proverbs 3:15, 8:10, & 31:10, among others). A good woman, like wisdom, and yes, even like precious pearls and gems, is rare, elusive, and difficult to find within a worldly atmosphere. But if they are truly sought after and pursued, they can be found and cherished!
Proverbs 3:21-22 My (sons &) daughters do not lose sight of these- keep sound wisdom and discretion, and they will be life for your soul and adornment for your neck.
As a daughter of God you should be earnest in your quest for freedom, storing it up like a precious jewel. As His daughter you should strive to honor Him in your words, thoughts, & actions, living a life that is pleasing to Him. In a world of darkness & deception, strive to be a rare & shining light. Carry Him with you, & let Him show through you.
