Winning the WWE Title automatically launches a wrestler’s career to the top level. The title around their waist, this is symbolic of the company showing their faith in the wrestler’s abilities to represent the best of the best. When the WWE Title and WWE World Heavyweight Title were separate it was much more likely for us to see a new first time champion. Now with them as one, the likelihood is far less.
Among the wrestlers currently employed by the WWE, is there anyone worthy of winning their first WWE Championship in 2014?
Bray Wyatt came into the WWE as Husky Harris on NXT. This didn’t work so he disappeared for a while and went back to development. When he came back he had a frightening cult leader gimmick. The young wrestler has already had memorable feuds with top stars like Kane and Daniel Bryan. At Wrestlemania 30 he faced the company’s biggest star, John Cena. Wyatt has yet to win a title despite all of the attention he has been given. It could only be a matter of time before he does and The Wyatt Family takes over the title picture.
A member of The Shield, a relative of The Rock, and the last eliminated from the 2014 Royal Rumble says something about the WWE’s faith in Roman Reigns. A big man with above average wrestling ability, Reigns is a future star in the making. One look at Reigns and anyone no matter what their opinion on what makes a champion is will agree that he has it. Perhaps a United States Title or Intercontinental Title run is in his more immediate future, but don’t be surprised to see him as the main event champion by the end of 2014.
The former Antonio Cesaro and formerly Claudio Castagnoli on the independent circuit, one half of the tag team ‘Kings of Wrestling,’ Cesaro is another new wrestler the fans are enjoying more and more. He has size and a look the WWE loves in their champions. His swing move where he grabs wrestlers by the feet and as the move suggests, swings them, shows off his strength and often gets the fans excited. A great wrestler who is pretty good on the microphone as well, the WWE may think about giving the WWE Title to the Swiss “King of Swing” before the year is through.
