The latest season of the Bachelor just ended and it has left many people upset. In 2013, Juan Pablo was chosen as the first Latino star of the ABC-TV reality show after 17 editions. If you don’t know much about the Bachelor or what it is about, then you might be in for a surprise. The Bachelor is a reality series about a single man with about 25 different women interests. The women are then eliminated every episode by a rose ceremony. At first the dates are large group dates and most of the women are eliminated by that. As the season continues, the bachelor and women start going on one-on-one dates and on two-on-one dates.
Juan Pablo seemed to be likable at first with his smooth and relaxing way of talking to the woman. He calmed them down when the cameras were rolling, or at least that’s what seemed to happen. Towards the end, Juan’s true self started to show as he made several rude and inappropriate comments. Juan was asked about his view on a gay bachelor show to which he replied, “I don’t think it is a good example for kids to watch that on TV,” and, “There’s this thing about gay people. … They’re more pervert in a sense.” Then there are the comments he made to Clare after they got off a helicopter. Very few, if any people heard what he said to her, but she later explained that he had said “He loved hooking up with me.” (Radar Online) That does not sound like a real gentleman. During the season, two contestants quit and one he drove to tears.
Juan Pablo may not have been the worst bachelor compared to other seasons. This season was the eighth time that the bachelor did not propose to the woman he gave the final rose to. In the eleventh season, Brad Womack did not select a single woman and left the season without a winner. Another, Jason Mesnick, proposed to one woman, Melissa, but changed his mind and later asked the runner up if she would date him. Out of all the seasons, 18 and counting, only ten men have actually proposed. If Juan wasn’t ready to propose, then there’s no reason he should have. He already has a kid and probably doesn’t want to confuse the child more than necessary. He also never told any of the girls he loved them, but why bother throwing around that word.
