There’s one big problem facing the world today, and it’s all due to ignorance. The anti-vaccination movement has helped bring certain nearly extinct illnesses back to the surface, making the world less safe than in the past. (theweek) The anti-vaccination movement has been debunked, the stories made up to bash vaccines were created by a man who’s medical license has been revoked due to these “findings” and a man who was out to sue the vaccine makers to get rich. Thanks to people like Jenny McCarthy the public jumped onto this bandwagon, if you get someone with a little bit of fame attached to their name to push your agenda, you can fool enough people into buying your theory.
In Florida, the man behind 1-800-Ask-Gary is the latest anti-vaccination “celebrity.” (facebook) Dr. Gary Kompothecras has a new ad running that masquerades as one thing but then eventually instructs people to go to an anti-vaccination website to get the “truth” about vaccines, and with his connection to Tampa’s Bubba the Love Sponge radio show, he’s going to have a ton of people believing he knows what he’s talking about. (browardpalmbeach) This is the type of disinformation that could cause the most harm in society, because too many people refuse to truly educate themselves.
Thanks to this anti-vaccination movement there has been a massive increase in different illnesses that were once forgotten, including things such as Polio, which is putting the lives of our children in danger thanks to their refusal to look into the study and find out that it was deemed a completely fraudulent paper. The latest illness to climb from the oil fields is Whooping Cough. Pertussis is on the rise in California and has now crossed the line of being an epidemic. (iflscience) If it had turned out that vaccines really did cause Autism you would have to ask yourself, is the chance my child MIGHT have a chance to become Autistic worth risking their catching something else far worse that may cause death? I think any parent worth anything at all would keep their children on the same schedule for shots, it’s not worth risking death. The Science is out there, you just have to look for it and it’ll prove that vaccines aren’t causing Autism in children, if only we could fix this problem, unfortunately I don’t see it happening, there’s too much ignorance left in the world.
