Movies and TV shows inspire us to do great things in our lives. After all their heroes make it seem very cool. We want to be like our movies and TV heroes so we decide to study the same in college. In this article I am going to talk about three movies and TV series that inspire us to choose our career in college and what the reality is after that.
- 1) Ironman. When we watched this movie it inspires us to be engineers. After all Tony Stark make it look like we can engineer our lives and create anything we want in the world. We can be superheroes if we are engineers. We can also be billionaires and have a lot of women behind us, the perfect Playboy lifestyle. The reality is that is not easy to graduate from the university if you study engineering. If you are lucky to graduate for the university then it is difficult in this economy to find a job. Even if you find a job the bad news are that you are going to work for a boss 24/7 and there is a very little probability that you will become billionaire like Tony Stark and be a superhero with a lot of women.
- 2) Dr House. The perfect life. You will have money, sex and can bust your boss life without firing you because you are that good. You can diagnostic every rare disease and you will only receive interesting cases. The reality is that a medical career is very expensive. Even if you graduate and obtain your doctorate you will probably never going to be like Dr House. You will not diagnostic rare diseases and you will receive ordinary and boring cases. A lot of patients will die because you are not Dr House.
- 3) Breaking Bad. After we watched Breaking Bad it motivates us to be chemists. It seems very cool to create meth and win millions of dollars. Walter White makes it seem easy. It is true that the series give a perfect example on how our lives will end if we imitate Walter White. Nevertheless, the students choosing chemistry to be their career increase after the Breaking Bad TV series. It is not coincidence, Walter White make chemistry interesting so we want to study chemistry too. The reality is even if we graduate to be chemists there is a very little probability that you are going to be like Walter White. He was a genius and took risks that cause a lot of problems to his life. The most probable outcome to your life will be to teach chemistry in a classroom full of bored students.
In conclusion, it is interesting how movies and TV shows inspire us. It is positive to be positive and try to reach the stars because everything is possible in this world. The important thing is that we have to keep reality in our brains and don’t let fantasy cloud our senses.
