When Calls the Heart is a Hallmark Channel television series that is aired weekly. The main actor/actresses are Lori Loughlin, Erin Krakow and Daniel Lissing. The story is about a teacher who leaves the comforts of her rich family and moves out west to take a teaching job.
This story takes place in the 1800’s, is based on the Janette Okes novels and is written by Michael Landon Jr. It is also a love story. When Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) arrives in Coal Valley, she finds out that there has been a tragedy there recently. Coal Valley is a coal mining community and there was an accident that claimed the lives of many men who left behind wives and children. Therefore, the town is in mourning. Elizabeth lives with Abigail, a widow (Lori Loughlin). She was offered the teaching position on a trial basis after being told what had just happened in the community. She was willing to give it a try and is doing very well with the children.
The town constable, Jack, has his eyes on Elizabeth, but had some competition with another man who came to work in the mine. This man, Billy Hamilton, had intentions to steal Elizabeth’s heart. Jack kept an eye out for Elizabeth and warned her that Billy was not the nice guy that she thinks he is. Eventually Elizabeth was convinced when Billy is arrested for stealing. Elizabeth is slowly starting to fall in love with Jack. He gets advice from Abigail, the woman that Elizabeth lives with. She tells him to take things slow and to be friendly with her in a more relaxed setting. Jack is taking Abigail’s advice and is helping her out in school with different things.
In the mean time, Abigail was asked to leave her home and to move in the rooms above the café which she just opened. Elizabeth again moved in with Abigail above the café. Abigail was encouraged by Elizabeth to open the café because Abigail made very tasty cookies. The opening day of the café proved to be a success. The entire town waited in line for hours to buy her cookies. The stories are captivating and hold your interest. This is a great program to watch every Saturday evening. The same program repeats the following Friday nights.
