When traveling to a tropical location, you don’t need to pack a lot! A few dresses, a suit and some flip flops are really all you need to be comfortable. Here’s what I would pack for a five-day beach vacation.
I’d pack three shorter/casual dresses and two maxi dresses. Simple, cotton dresses are easy to pack. You can rotate these and dress up or down depending on the activity.
I would bring two pairs. First, bring a casual, comfortable flip flop for the beach, pool or walking around town. Additionally, you should bring a dressier sandal or wedge to wear to dinner.
Stick to one swimsuit and cover up. That way, you won’t have mixed up tan lines or extra pieces to worry about. Just wash with warm water after wear, and hang up to dry. For your cover up, you could bring one tunic style or one set of cotton shorts and a t-shirt.
Go minimal when packing your accessories. One pair of sunglasses and one sun hat will be fine. I’d also bring one statement necklace or bracelet to dress up your maxi for dinner. A clutch is the perfect small purse for dinner, and a zippered, nylon bag will come in handy to carry your things to and form the pool or beach.
I always pack minimal toiletries for beach trips. I pack my own body wash, sunscreen, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair ties, hairbrush and a little mascara. I use the resort’s shampoo, conditioner, lotion and hair dryer if necessary.
Don’t forget your pajamas and enough underwear to last your whole trip! Other than that, you’ll need a good book or magazine, something to listen to and you’re set!
Packing for a beach vacation can be so simple; you can fit everything in a carry-on bag and still have room to spare! Now, what beach should you travel to next? That’s the hard part!
