It’s time to plan on what we would like to do for Independence Day this year. There are always parties, BBQ’s, festivals and especially fireworks to look forward to. At this moment, I still need to decide which events to go to on that special day. As I was looking around for festivities and I found out quite a few for the downtown area of Knoxville. Which is great for my family and my grandkids love all the fountains there; there is nothing like getting hot and running thru the waters.
For the kids at the Regal Kids Zone there will be free rides and activities from 4-8 pm. At 5 pm the Knoxville Police Department and the Knoxville Fire Department will have a Tug-of-War contest. From 4-5:45 pm the Coveralls will perform on the Festival Lawn Stage, as will Brad Blackwell from 6″15-7:30 pm.
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, they will play at the World’s Fair Park’s Performance Lawn and be directed by Lucas Richman from 8-10 pm. The fireworks will begin at 9:35 pm. I can’t wait to see them. For more information, maps of the park and directions please check out the City of Knoxville web page.
Here are a few things for the adult to do at some of the local clubs and cafes after the fireworks and the first listing is for earlier in the morning. Check out the Voodoo Pharmacology to get you going and the others for after the fireworks. This should prove to be an exciting day, all the way around.
