God is His creation: “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20)
Paul is saying that the creation is an extension of God, and, through it, we can experience what the Creator is.
“The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.” (Ps.19:1)
His creation announces Him: Creation is like an encyclopedia about God.
John.4:24 says that “God is spirit,” which means He’s invisible. For His glory, I believe He created a visible universe that displays His invisible work of redemption.
In Genesis 1:3 He reveals what He is, “Then God said “Let there be light”; and there was light.”
As a microcosm of Himself, He created the sun. Daily, like a precision timepiece, it rises in the east and travels across the heavens setting in the west. The sun’s like an overseer that guides time and sub-human life in the world.
For example, the rays of the sun shine on the earth at diverse angles at different times of the year. Thus, the weather patterns of the seasons differ.
The warmth of spring’s sunlight, along with seasonal showers, stimulates the soil, and new life sprouts and perennials revive.
Summer is the time for this life to nurture and grow in preparation for fall and winter. The sun warms the soil, which enables the roots of plants to grow deep.
Fall brings weather patterns that lead to winter; when winter arrives much of creation goes dormant.
These cycles manifest “A time to give birth and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.” (Ecclesiastes 3:2)
The creation declares God’s grace: Likewise, I see salvation and sanctification in the four seasons as God guides Believers in His shining truths.
“Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” (2Cor. 5:17)
The new growth of salvation is similar to plants in the spring; the Son warms the soil of hearts and prepares souls to accept Him.
Summer is when Believers absorb and store nourishment and they grow, they expand, they become durable.
A Believer’s nourishment also comes from the Son.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.” (2Tim. 3:16)
Sanctification occurs when fall’s temptations may lead to winter’s meanderings. James 1:3 says, “knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.”
Believers, like plant life, rely on the depth of their root systems for tenacity.
God’s personal testimony through creation is complete because of a cross on a hill called Calvary. If you don’t understand that proclamation, ask the Son to reveal the warmth of that message to you.
It has eternal significance.
