Maca is a powder super food that comes from the radish family. The powder comes from the maca root, and it has been used in Incan culture for thousands of years. It is packed with so many good nutrients that are beneficial to your health and so far has no known side effects. I have been using maca powder in my drinks and smoothies for the past couple months and I have noticed an improvement in my overall health. Let’s learn about all of the beneficiary uses for maca!
Maca powder is full of natural properties that will help with your overall health. It contains antioxidants which cleanse the body and give it energy, and it also has vitamins including iron and zinc that help with cell regeneration and healthy oxygen flow. It has vitamins B and C which assist the body in the formation of red blood cells. The major minerals found in maca powder are potassium and calcium. Both are great for bone strength and cell function. Maca is rich in fiber which is good for digestion and has four times more fiber then a regular potato. Amino acids are present in maca powder which helps with a healthy metabolism and with protein intake.
This powerful root food helps with sex drive. Yes, it is a proven fact that the maca powder helps increase sex drive and enhances sexual health. This is widely the case because of all the vitamins and antioxidants present in maca which give energy and more stamina. Maca contains two substances known as macamides and macaenes which naturally increase male and female libido. Since maca is so great at regulating hormones and increasing sex drive, it should not be taken in large quantities or too often because you don’t want to throw your hormones off. It must be stressed that maca itself is not a hormone. It simply has properties that work with hormones and support the adrenal glands for better sexual function.
It is easy to consume. You can have maca powder in soups, salads, protein drinks, oatmeal, cooked food, and juices. Careful not to add it to any hot foods as they will diminish its health benefits and kill some of its natural properties. In my opinion it has an acquired taste so you may or may not like it the first time trying maca. I always take one tablespoon of maca powder with my protein drink once a day but when I first started taking it, I only had a tablespoon once every three days with my drinks to get used to it. Maca can be taken in capsule form too, but I think you get the most out of the powder’s fantastic benefits if you take it in raw powder form.
