Hallucinogens are drugs that can be found naturally and also synthetically made. They can cause the user to hallucinate by disrupting their sensory preceptors. Most times people will have visual hallucinations, seeing things that are not there or seeing things in a distorted way. Hallucinogens can cause people to mix their senses, for example people may believe they can taste colors and hear pictures. Hallucinogens con be found in many forms, below are a few of the many hallucinogens known. Lophophora williamsii (commonly known as peyote) is a small, spineless cactus with psychoactive alkaloids, particularly mescaline. Native North Americans are likely to have used peyote for at least 5,500 years. Known for its psychoactive properties when ingested, peyote is used worldwide as an entheogen and supplement to various transcendence practices, including meditation, psychonautics, and psychedelic psychotherapy. Peyote has a long history of ritualistic and medicinal use by indigenous Americans. Peyote is native to southern North America, mainly distributed in Mexico and in the United States it grows in southern Texas. Methaqualone (commonly known as mandrake) is a sedative-hypnotic drug that is similar in effect to barbiturates, a general central nervous system depressant. Its use peaked in the early 1970s as a hypnotic, for the treatment of insomnia, and as a sedative and muscle relaxant. It has also been used illegally as a recreational drug. Clandestinely produced mandrake is seized by government agencies and police forces around the world. Mandrake is a depressant that increases the activity of the GABA receptors in the brain and nervous system. Atropa belladonna (commonly known as Deadly Nightshade) is a perennial herbaceous plant in the family Solanaceae, native to Europe, North Africa, and Western Asia. The foliage and berries are extremely toxic, containing propane alkaloids. These toxins include scopolamine and hyoscyamine which cause a bizarre delirium and hallucinations, and are also used as pharmaceutical anticholinergics. It has a long history of use as a medicine, cosmetics for women, and poison-tipped arrows. Datura is a study plant that can reach five feet of root height .Have deep somewhat enlarged. The stem is smooth ,hailes and green and many time grows bonehig out.Its dark green leaves are thin, ahovadas in a watery end and winding jagged edged like claws.Datura is used as sedatives even though it has hallucinogenic qualities. Mescaline is a naturally occurring psychedelic, known for its mind-altering effects, and similarity to LSD and psilocybin. Mescaline can be extracted from the peyote plant or be synthetically made. It’s mostly used as a recreational drug and for psychedelic therapy. Hallucinogens are taken by people to experience what happens, to party, and to undergo meditations. What some people take into consideration are the side effects that hallucinogens can have. They can increase heart rate, cause paranoia, and bad hallucinations. These effects can lead to very bad situations because people don’t have a clear enough mind to think rationally. The best way to stay safe is to not use hallucinogens at all.
