Do you have some vintage luggage that belonged to your grandparents? Or did you score a great find at a garage sale or flea market? Now that you have the luggage, you may wonder what to do with it. Here are some creative options for displaying and using old luggage.
Side Table or Night Stand
You’ll need two or three old suitcases for this repurposing idea. You simply stack up the luggage to create a small side table or night stand. Start with the biggest suitcase on the floor. Stack the rest with the smallest suitcase on the top. This option works best for suitcases that have flat sides so they stack well.
Have a storage shelf that needs some organization? Small vintage suitcases are an option for keeping the stuff on the shelf organized and hidden. Fill the luggage with whatever you want to store. Slide them into place on the shelves. Add an old luggage tag to label what is inside to make it easier to find the right suitcase.
Another option for an old suitcase is to use it as a display case. Prop open the lid on the suitcase. Add some decorative touches inside. You might stretch a miniature bunting across the top lid of the suitcase and put a display item in the bottom, for example. This is also a good option to display things at a craft show. Clip the items you’re selling inside the suitcase for display.
If you want to add a vintage look to your garden, use the old suitcase as a planter. Prop open the suitcase. Put a plastic tub in the bottom to protect the suitcase. Plant the flowers in small planters and arrange them in the tub inside the suitcase. You can use a coat of sealer on the suitcase to protect it from the elements, or place it on a covered porch to keep the rain and sun off of it.
